Supply of complete cell control system for automatic painting line

A completely new paint shop was built at the BMW plant in Leipzig. In addition to the paint mixing room, ASIS was commissioned with the control technology for the paint booths. In a total of 5 booths, 22 “hanging” ABB robots from the IRB 5500 series are controlled with the respective applications such as CO² cleaning, flame treatment and high rotation atomizers. Like a “spider in a web”, the ASIS cell controller pulls the strings here. The Profinet-safe bus system is used to exchange all relevant data from the ancillary systems of materials handling, process engineering, material supply, robot controls and the customer-specific IPS-C, IPS-T and IPM control systems. A user-oriented plant visualization system was installed in ZENON for each booth.
