Force compliance for robotic use

Robotic Force Compliance Devices allow you to automate processes and give an industrial robot a “human” touch. Their sliding carriage allows the process equipment to maintain contact with a part’s surface with a specific force. This technology is a closed-loop system that works independently of the robot arm. Unlike, force torque sensors, our device does not have to compensate for the mass of the robot arm. Instead, we only deal with the weight on the end of the sliding carriage.

This makes our robotic force compliance devices more accurate, precise, and easier to use than any other equipment on the market. This is critical when dealing with material removal applications (grinding, sanding, deburring, weld shaving) where consistency is key to achieving a beautiful surface finish.

Active Force Compliance
Automated Active Compliant Tools utilize internal closed-loop, feedback control along with internal force, acceleration and position sensors to accurately apply the desired force to the your part. Accurate force is maintained over contours, in any orientation. Just tell it what force you want and an Active tool will apply it up, down, sideways or any orientation in between.

Passive Force Compliance
Automated Passive Compliant Tools are simple, less-expensive, open-loop devices. They rely on external, customer-supplied air pressure regulators to set the applied force. While they may lack the ultra-high precision and flexibility of Active compliance, they work extremely well for less demanding flat or prismatic parts or more specialized processes like Weld Shaving where high-accuracy force control is unnecessary.

Advantages:

  • Closed-loop system, independent of robot arm
  • Extremely accurate, precise and easy to use
  • Active or passive technology
  • Parallel or perpendicular mounting options for the tools

Service partner for PushCorp products

Fast repair via ASIS

However, if something is damaged or does not function properly, ASIS is the official service partner for PushCorp products in Germany and Austria. The equipment is repaired either directly at your site or at ASIS in Landshut. Without long delivery or waiting times, the system is active again and production can continue.

Active Compliance

The high-precision solution for complex parts

PushCorp Kraftregelung
Actice Force Compliance Device with 267 N (AFD310)
The AFD310 end effektor can apply up to 267 N (60 lbf) contact pressure in each direction and is controlled active-force sensetive. Ideally matched to robot servo spindles of the types STC0605-BT30, STC1503-BT30, SM0605, SM1503, SM1202 and the Robot Random Orbital Sander Rob-E-Unit, maximal payload weight 27,2 kg (60lbs).

Actice Force Compliance Device with 511 N (AFD620)
The AFD620 end effektor can apply up to 511 N (115 lbf) contact pressure in each direction and is controlled active-force sensetive. Ideally matched to robot servo spindles of the types STC0612-BT40, SM0612, STC1015, STC1515 and the Robot Random Orbital Sander Rob-E-Unit, maximal payload weight 52,2 kg (115lbs).

Actice Force Compliance Device with 956 N (AFD1240)
The AFD1240 end effektor can apply up to 956 N (215 lbf) contact pressure in each direction and is controlled active-force sensetive. Ideally matched to robot servo spindles of the types STC0612, SM0612, STC1015, and STC1515 and the Robot Random Orbital Sander Rob-E-Unit, maximal payload weight 97,5 kg (215 lbs).

Kontaktflange Controller
Controller for Active Force Compliance (FCUFlex)
The FCUFlex weighs the motor and tool, compensates for their weight and calculates acceleration-induced forces – all automatically. In combination with all PushCorp’s active compliant devices , it becomes extremely easy to integrate high-precision force control functions into your process.

Passive force compliance

The cost-effective solution for flat or prismatic parts

PushCorp Kraftregelung force compliance
Passive Force Compliance with 222 N (AFD72)
The AFD72 end effektor can apply up to 222 N (50 lbf) contact pressure in each direction and is controlled active-force sensetive. Ideally matched to robot servo spindles of the types STC0605-BT30, STC1503-BT30, SM0605, SM1503, SM1202 and the Robot Random Orbital Sander Rob-E-Unit, maximal payload weight 18,2 kg (40lbs).

passive force compliance device
Passive Force Compliance with 444 N (AFD82)
The AFD82 end effektor can apply up to 444 N (100 lbf) contact pressure in each direction and is controlled active-force sensetive. Ideally matched to robot servo spindles of the types STC0612-BT40, SM0612, STC1015, STC1515 and the Robot Random Orbital Sander Rob-E-Unit, maximal payload weight 27,2 kg (60lbs).

passive force compliance device
Passive Force Compliance with 1112 N (AFD92)
The AFD92 end effektor can apply up to 1112 N (250 lbf) contact pressure in each direction and is controlled active-force sensetive. Ideally matched to robot servo spindles of the types STC0612, SM0612, STC1015, and STC1515 and the Robot Random Orbital Sander Rob-E-Unit, maximal payload weight 97,5 kg (215lbs).

Variable mounting

Parallel or perpendicular configuration

Parallele Befestigung kraftregelung
Parallel mounting
When combining PushCorp’s spindle and force compliance devices there are two ways that they can be mounted. The first way is a parallel configuration. This is great setup when using media such as flap disks and DA sanders. The direction of compliance is parallel with the spindle.

senkrechte befestigung pushcorp
Perpendicular mounting
The second mounting option is a perpendicular configuration. This is great setup when using media such as bristle brushes or saw blades. The direction of compliance is perpendicular with the spindle.
