Geopolitical change requires new solutions, particularly in the defense and arms industry. A newly founded consortium, Partners for Defense (P4D), comprised of eight leading industrial companies, aims to offer the defense industry highly automated production solutions in short timeframes, enabled by its wide-ranging expertise. P4D will show how this can be achieved for the first time at the Enforce Tac trade fair in Nuremberg from February 23 to 25.
Recent geopolitical upheavals demonstrate that the European Union must reposition itself militarily to ensure the long-term defense capabilities of its member states. Relying exclusively on arms manufacturers from non‑EU countries leaves the EU dependent on them for emergency spare-parts supplies and software updates, which is not a viable strategy.
Europe must be able to act independently and avoid overdependence as far as possible. Achieving this will require, among other things, significant investment in the requisite production capacities. This is precisely where Partners for Defense (P4D) comes in. The consortium, currently comprised of eight highly specialized industrial companies with proven expertise in their respective fields, aims to pool its skills to support the defense industry with advanced integrated production solutions.

The eight partners’ fields of expertise are ideally suited for this purpose: Systems integrator M.A.i specializes in intelligent automation systems for high-tech industries; Stäubli Robotics in high-precision industrial robots; Taktomat in drive technology solutions; Rösler in surface finishing; Schläger M-Tech in plastics technology and mechatronics; bdtronic in metering/dispensing, hot riveting, and plasma technology; senswork in machine vision and AI; and Asis in state-of-the-art painting and coating systems.
P4D combines experience, technological excellence, and innovative strength from all areas relevant to the defense industry. Its goal is to create synergies, share expertise, and jointly develop high-performance production solutions. Close collaboration among members can enable more efficient project implementation, provide state-of-the-art technologies, and help ensure the highest quality standards.
P4D is built on a commitment to responsibility, reliability, and technological excellence, and aims to make a sustainable contribution to industrial performance in the safety-critical security and defense sector.
