The newly formed Partners for Defense consortium, an alliance of eight leading industrial companies, can quickly provide the defense industry with highly automated production solutions thanks to its broad-based expertise.
Recent geopolitical upheavals demonstrate that the European Union must realign its military capabilities if it is to ensure the long-term defense capabilities of its member states. The strategy cannot be to rely exclusively on defense contractors from third countries and, in an emergency, be dependent on their spare parts deliveries and software updates.
Europe must be capable of acting independently and avoid dependencies as much as possible. Achieving this goal requires, among other things, massive investments in the necessary production capacities. And this is precisely where the newly founded consortium Partners for Defense, or P4D for short, comes in. The network, currently comprising eight highly specialized industrial companies—all with proven expertise in their respective fields—aims to pool its capabilities to provide the defense industry with the best possible support through comprehensive production solutions.

For example, the plant manufacturer M.A.i specializes in intelligent automation systems for high-tech industries; Stäubli Robotics in high-precision industrial robots; Taktomat in excellence in drive technology; Rösler for expertise in surface treatment, Schläger M-Tech for plastics technology and mechatronics expertise, bdtronic for solutions in dosing, hot riveting, and plasma, senswork for machine vision and AI, and Asis for state-of-the-art systems in surface technology.
